Just one year after debuting “Megyn Kelly Today” on NBC News, the former Fox News primetime star is in talks to leave her 9 a.m. daytime show, according to reports.
Ms. Kelly and NBC News are discussing her taking a new role at the network, a person who has spoken with the anchor told Variety. Two sources told CNN that Ms. Kelly’s exit from the daytime show is imminent, but that there is some discrepancy on when.
She is still slated to take part in NBC News’ election-night coverage on Nov. 6, reports said.
The discussions reportedly began well before Ms. Kelly apologized this week amid backlash over her comments on blackface Halloween costumes, which sparked condemnation from her NBC colleagues Al Roker, Craig Melvin and network Chairman Andy Lack.
Ms. Kelly has since parted ways with her talent agency, CAA, and she has hired attorney Bryan Freedman, CNN reported.
