Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci called on President Trump Wednesday to stop lying and to start focusing on policies ahead of the 2018 midterms.

During an interview on CNN’s “New Day,” Mr. Scaramucci acknowledged that the president does lie and called him a scoundrel. He said the president “likes it” because it gets people talking.

After being pressed by host John Breman, Mr. Scaramucci called the president a liar and directed a message specifically to Mr. Trump.

“Nobody should lie, but you’re a politician now and politicians lie when their lips are moving,” he said. “But you should probably dial down the lying because you don’t need to.”

Mr. Scaramucci suggested that Mr. Trump focus on his economic policies because he doesn’t want to have his approval rating “stuck in the mid-40’s” heading into midterms.
