OAKLAND, California (AP) - The Latest on fire at an Oakland townhome complex under construction (all times local):
9:40 a.m.
Oakland Fire Chief Darin White says investigators are trying to determine if a massive blaze that destroyed four buildings under construction and injured a firefighter is connected to a nearby arson fire that was quickly extinguished.
The large blaze at the complex near West Grand Avenue and Myrtle Street was reported at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday and was still burning as of 10 a.m.
White says firefighters quickly extinguished a small blaze inside an apartment in a complex under construction about a mile away on Peralta Street.
Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf is calling on residents near construction sites to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
There have been at least three arson fires at apartment buildings being built in Oakland in the last two years.

Fire officials say a massive fire burning at an Oakland townhome complex under construction has destroyed four of six buildings. No injuries have been reported.
The large blaze at the complex near West Grand Avenue and Myrtle Street was reported at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday and was still burning as of 7 a.m.
Oakland Deputy Fire Chief Nick Luby tells the East Bay Times that firefighters are still battling fire in the two remaining buildings.
Luby says the cause of the fire remains under investigations and that officials are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video.

A five-alarm fire has engulfed an apartment complex under construction, the latest in a series of blazes at large residential buildings in Oakland.
There were no reported injuries, but officials were concerned about embers igniting other fires.
The large blaze at the multi-story complex at West Grand Avenue and Market Street was still burning hours after it started at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday, the Mercury News reported.
Authorities were investigating the cause of the fire.
Since 2016, there have been at least three arson fires at apartment buildings being built in Oakland, according to the report.
