North Dakota Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer has increased his lead over Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp in his race to win over her U.S. Senate seat, leading the incumbent by more than a dozen points since her vote against President Trump’s Supreme Court pick Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh.
A KVLY, KFYR survey of 650 likely voters taken between Oct. 12 and Oct. 19 shows Mr. Cramer with a 16 point edge, 56 to 40 percent, according to Valley News Live.
In a poll taken before Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Ms. Heitkamp was down by 10, suggesting her vote against the nominee, who faced unsubstantiated sexual misconduct allegations, has damaged her campaign.
The recent poll’s results also reveal 52 percent of North Dakota voters have an unfavorable view of Ms. Heitkamp, while 53 percent view Mr. Cramer unfavorably.
It has a 3.84 point margin of error.
Mr. Cramer, who is backed by Mr. Trump, is one of several Republicans trying to unseat a red-state Democrat in November. Mr. Trump remains popular in North Dakota, where he won in 2016 by 36 points.
