CODY, Wyo. (AP) - Three grizzly bears were captured and relocated to the Camp Creek drainage near Cody.

The Cody Enterprise reports a sow grizzly and her cub were captured last week by Game and Fish at the direction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The effort was part of a preemptive strike to reduce the potential for conflicts due to the bears proximity and behavior around human activities and outfitter camps in the Upper Green River Drainage on the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

These bears and a non-target subadult female grizzly from the South Fork were all relocated. None of the three were considered a threat to human safety.

The Camp Creek site was chosen due to the lack of human presence and ability to release the bears several miles behind closed gates.
