PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A political group has started pulling funds out of Rhode Island gubernatorial candidate Allan Fung’s campaign.

WPRI-TV reports the Republican Governor’s Association’s Rhode Island affiliate, Rhode Island Forward, recently cancelled scheduled television ads. According to the state Board of Elections, Rhode Island Forward had spent more than $900,000 by Oct. 12. Polls have shown Fung trails Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo.

Jennifer Duffy, who is an elections analyst at The Cook Political Report in Washington, D.C., says Rhode Island Forward’s decision “means that they see no path to victory for Fung.”

Mike DuHaime of Rhode Island Forward declined to say if the group will continue airing television ads for Fung.

Fung spokesman Andrew Augustus says the campaign is appreciative of the funding from Rhode Island Forward.
