Alicia Keys, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, Erykah Badu and a host of artists and celebrities have joined an event in Washington this week protesting Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh.
The event, organized by the progressive Party Majority PAC, will take place this Thursday at 12:30 p.m. local time in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals D.C. Circuit, where Judge Kavanaugh has served for more than 12 years.
“If there was ever a moment when the voice of the people can come together in concert to change the fate of our nation, this is it,” the group says in the event’s description. “Arm in arm, organized and ready, every child, woman, and man, must take to the streets to protest this nomination. The legitimacy of the nation’s highest court is at stake as is the future of our country.”
Other celebrities in the lineup include Maggie Gyllenhaal, Amanda Palmer, Arianna Huffington and Norman Lear.
Judge Kavanaugh, who was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Trump on July 9, is currently under FBI investigation for several sexual misconduct allegations, which he strongly denies.
