As some folks like to say, it’s “ball night” in Washington.
The Wizards open their season Thursday, playing their first meaningful game in almost six months since the Toronto Raptors eliminated them in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs on April 27. Some big changes have been made, but John Wall, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr. and coach Scott Brooks are all returning to Chinatown tonight.
Here’s everything you need to know before tip-off:
Opponent: Miami Heat (0-1)
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.
When: Thursday, Oct. 18, 8 p.m.
Television: NBC Sports Washington
Radio: 1500 AM
What to watch for: Dwight Howard might make his debut in a Wizards uniform. He is the only player on the team’s injury report, day-to-day with a piriformis injury, but he began practicing in full early this week and was seen at shootaround … Washington catches the Heat on a back-to-back to start the season. They opened their season Wednesday night with a 104-101 loss in Orlando, then made the quick trip north to the District.
