PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - An oil refinery on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast is identifying the worker who fell to his death.
News outlets say Albert Lee Byrd II died Tuesday night after falling from an elevated structure at the Chevron Corp. refinery in Pascagoula.
Byrd worked for Performance Contractors, a company that performs work at the refinery.
Chevron says its emergency responders provided support and called an ambulance for Byrd.
Spokesman Alan Sudduth says San Ramon, California-based Chevron is cooperating with authorities. Representatives of the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration have arrived at the refinery.
The plant has more than 1,500 employees and processes nearly 14 million gallons (53 million liters) of oil per day.
