BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Latest on the Louisiana secretary of state’s race (all times local):

After months of quiet on the airwaves, candidates vying to be Louisiana’s secretary of state are kicking off TV ad campaigns.
Interim Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin, a Baton Rouge Republican in office since May, launched first, with a 30-second spot that went up Monday. In it, Ardoin positions himself as an incumbent fighting to protect voters.
GOP State Rep. Rick Edmonds, of Baton Rouge, is entering the TV ad competition Tuesday, with a smaller buy. He’s got four spots that his campaign shared with The Associated Press, including two that hit Ardoin.
One criticizes Ardoin for breaking a promise not to run for the office he inherited when his boss resigned amid sexual harassment allegations. The other slams Ardoin for donations to Democratic candidates. In all four ads, Edmonds highlights his anti-tax votes.

With only three weeks remaining before the election, the first television ad is running in Louisiana’s secretary of state race.
Interim Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin launched his opening 30-second spot Monday, an ad his campaign says is running statewide ahead of the Nov. 6 special election.
In the ad, Ardoin positions himself as an incumbent in a job he’s held only since May when Republican Tom Schedler resigned amid sexual harassment allegations. Ardoin describes nearly a decade of working to protect Louisiana elections. He doesn’t mention he was working as first assistant to Schedler, rather than in the top position, during that time.
Ardoin is one of nine contenders in the race, but only a few will have enough money to purchase TV time to rally support from voters.
