RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has awarded nearly $1 million in federal Clean Water Act grants to protect the condition of Nevada surface waters, including more than $350,000 at Lake Tahoe.

The Carson Water Subconservancy District will receive the largest single grant - $237,000 for the Carson River Coalition watershed coordination program.

The Kingsbury General Improvement District won $155,000 for street sweeping operations to help keep sediments out of Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency gets $126,000 for pollution prevention and water quality improvement and the Incline Village General Improvement District $81,500 for the Burnt Cedar Beach water quality project.

Two Washoe County grants target the Truckee River - $75,000 for the Nevada Land Trust to create a watershed management plan and $25,000 for the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency to create a non-point-source special awareness tool.
