CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Several New Hampshire lawmakers have released a response to Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s 10-year energy plan.
New Hampshire Public Radio reports the plan released Thursday includes investing in renewable energy and promoting new technology. Democratic State Rep. Lee Oxenham says the plan slashes costs for ratepayers and decreases the state’s carbon footprint.
The plan Sununu released in April prioritizes cost-effective energy policies. He has said high electricity costs are holding the state back from attracting and growing businesses, preventing job creation, and economic growth.
Oxenham says legislators were disappointed Sununu’s plan didn’t put a greater emphasis on renewable energy. She says the coalition hopes their plan can receive bipartisan support.
The New England Ratepayers Association supported Sununu’s plan. Association president Marc Brown says short-term bill increases could harm some residents.
