Comedian Stephen Colbert is giving live coverage another go for the midterms after the comedic “slaughterhouse” that was the 2016 presidential election.
The CBS “Late Night” host recently told The New York Times that performing live during President Trump’s historic victory was a “slaughterhouse” that “killed all the comedy,” but he’s ready to return to the format for Nov. 6.
Guests will be announced at a later date, The Hollywood Reporter noted Tuesday.
“How did our politics get so poisonous?” Mr. Colbert asked during his 2016 Showtime special as he realized Democrat Hillary Clinton had lost her White House bid. “I think it’s because we overdosed, especially this year. We drank too much of the poison. You take a little bit so you can hate the other side, and it tastes kind of good. And you like how it feels, and there’s a gentle high to the condemnation. Right?”
Mr. Colbert also hosted a live show for the 2018 State of the Union Address.
