In a big victory for President Trump, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine won the governorship Tuesday against administration foe Richard Cordray.

Mr. DeWine defeated Mr. Cordray, a Democrat who had clashed with the president as head of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, by about six percentage points with nearly 90 percent of the vote counted.

The president had campaigned hard for Mr. DeWine, making a final stop in Ohio on Monday for the Republican and warning that Mr. Cordray would destroy the state’s prosperity.
