President Trump said Thursday he’s willing to make a deal with China, but he is more than happy to stick with the current tense trade relationship.
Mr. Trump said the U.S. is “close” to making a deal, but the “billions and billions of dollars” coming in from tariffs made him uncertain about going through with it.
“I think China wants to make a deal. I’m open to making a deal, but frankly I like the deal we have right now,” he told reporters outside the White House.
Mr. Trump spoke as he departed for the G-20 Summit in Argentina, where he will meet with China’s President Xi Jinping for the first time since the trade war began.
