CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Concord’s school board has approved a long sought after teachers’ contract, adding roughly a $1 million.
The board voted unanimously Monday night to approve the three-year contract. The Concord Monitor reports members of the public at the meeting expressed frustration at the contract dispute over the contentious negotiations.
Former teacher Betty Hoadley says she was unhappy that teachers did not attend back to school nights this year, done to highlight the lack of a contract.
Concord Education Association President Michael Macri says the union’s actions were directed toward the administration, and did not diminish the dedication of teachers.
Overall, the contract will increase education spending the first year by $1,225,000, with $980,000 going toward salaries. Costs are included in the school district’s current budget.
