PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The faculty union at the Community College of Rhode Island is conducting a no-confidence vote on the college president.
The Providence Journal reports the union is upset with the administration’s decision to introduce a winter term, which faculty say was poorly planned and lacked their input.
Voting is underway through Dec. 3.
College President Meghan Hughes says the administration is committed to working through these differences of opinion with the union in a fair and collaborative manner.
Students at the college can receive free college tuition through a state program launched last year. The college says it wants to offer the session to help students graduate on time.
The faculty union says Hughes and other members of the administration lack the competence and demeanor for their roles and should be removed from those positions.
