President Trump accused special counsel Robert Mueller on Tuesday of being a “conflicted prosecutor gone rogue” and mistreating witnesses that don’t cooperate.
“Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie,” Mr. Trump posted in a morning Twitter storm. “He is doing TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System, where he is only looking at one side and not the other.”
On Monday, the Mueller team accused Paul Manafort, Mr. Trump’s former campaign chairman, of violating his plea agreement by lying to investigators, which could terminate his deal and potentially extend the charges against him.
Jerome Corsi, a former Infowars bureau chief and associate of Roger Stone, also accused the Mueller team of wanting him to agree to a false plea deal.
“The government wants me to plead to lying willfully and knowingly to the special counsel and the FBI, and I did not do that,” he told ABC News.
It’s the second day in a row that the president took to Twitter to rail against the ongoing Russia investigation.
Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz warned that Mr. Mueller’s report will likely be “politically very devastating” for Mr. Trump.
There is no specific date set for Mr. Mueller to finalize his last report, but reports suggest he is wrapping up the investigation.
