DEKALB, Miss. (AP) - A cosmetics maker is expanding its Mississippi factory, investing $1 million and planning to hire more than 25 workers over the next year.
Emilia Resources announced plans on Tuesday to add on to its building and expand manufacturing capacity in DeKalb.
Kemper County, which owns the building and leases it to Emilia, is providing $500,000. The Appalachian Regional Commission is providing $840,000 in federal money, while the Mississippi Development Authority is providing $100,000.
Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says Emilia declines to say how much workers make.
The Israeli company bought the operation from a failed pharmaceutical maker in 2014. Emilia makes private-label cosmetics and personal care products for retailers.
It’s the latest in a series of expansions for Emilia, and will bring total employment to about 140 workers.
