PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man has been arrested three years after he attacked another driver with a machete during a road-rage incident.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that 38-year-old Jason Putnam was arrested Tuesday in Pasco County. The sheriff’s office says a deputy encountered Putnam during a different investigation and saw a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities say Putnam and another man got into an argument over a traffic issue in Port Richey in October 2015. The men initially got into a fistfight, but investigators say Putnam eventually retrieved the machete from his girlfriend’s vehicle. The man suffered a cut to his hand before returning to his vehicle. Putnam fled the scene.

Putnam was being held on $26,000 bail. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.
