PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) - The Latest on the second day at the Battle 4 Atlantis (all times local):
11:40 p.m.
Sean McDermott scored 21 points by tying the tournament record of seven 3-pointers, part of Butler’s Atlantis-record 16 made 3s in an 84-53 win against Middle Tennessee in Thursday’s consolation bracket at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
McDermott’s seven 3s tied a record set by Wisconsin’s D’Mitrik Trice against Oklahoma earlier Thursday. The Bulldogs (4-1) also went 16 of 35 from behind the arc, surpassing the previous mark of 15 3s set by Massachusetts in 2011.
Paul Jorgensen also scored 21 points as Butler shot 52 percent in a big offensive output following their first-round loss to Dayton. The Bulldogs built a 44-27 halftime lead and never looked back.
James Hawthorne scored 11 points to lead the Blue Raiders (3-3), who shot 32 percent and committed 20 turnovers.
Butler will face Florida in Friday’s fifth-place game. Middle Tennessee will face Stanford in the seventh-place game.

Deaundrae Ballard scored a career-best 19 points to help Florida beat Stanford 72-49 in Thursday’s consolation bracket at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
KeVaughn Allen added 13 points for the Gators (3-2), who arrived in the Bahamas with an offense that hadn’t performed the way coach Mike White expected. Then they scored 60 points in a first-round loss to Oklahoma, leaving White to say confidence was an issue for his team.
Things went smoother against the Cardinal (2-3). Florida shot 52 percent, including making 7 of 15 3-pointers.
The Gators took control early as Stanford’s offense sputtered. Florida led 32-13 by the break, the fewest points allowed in a half under its fourth-year coach.
Cormac Ryan scored 12 points for Stanford, which made 5 of 23 shots with 13 turnovers in an opening half that essentially decided this one.
Florida plays Friday in the fifth-place game, while Stanford plays for seventh.

5:55 p.m.
De’Andre Hunter matched his career high with 23 points to help fourth-ranked Virginia hold off Dayton 66-59 on Thursday in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.
Hunter made a 3-pointer with 53.1 seconds left and Virginia protecting a 60-56 lead. It turned out to provide just enough cushion to keep the Cavaliers (5-0) in control and send them into the championship game Friday against No. 25 Wisconsin.
Virginia shot 50 percent in the second half.
Ty Jerome added 15 points for Virginia, and Kyle Guy had 14.
Josh Cunningham led Dayton (4-1) with 15 points. The Flyers shot 55 percent in the second half and stayed within reach every time the Cavaliers threatened to stretch the lead into double figures.
Dayton will face Oklahoma on Friday in the third-place game.

4:35 p.m.
D’Mitrik Trice’s 3-point shooting display broke a Battle 4 Atlantis tournament record and nearly matched another.
Trice hit seven 3-pointers in No. 25 Wisconsin’s 78-58 victory over Oklahoma in Thursday’s semifinals. That broke the previous single-game record of six, first set by UConn’s Shabazz Napier in the inaugural event in November 2011.
Syracuse’s Michael Gbinije matched that mark against Charlotte in November 2015.
Trice started 7 for 7 but missed with about 6 minutes left to finish at 7 for 8. That kept him from becoming only the third player to go 100 percent from behind the arc with at least five attempts.
Not bad for a guy who missed all five of his 3s in Wednesday’s first-round win against Stanford, though Trice said: “It was just a day that the shot’s going in.”

3:25 p.m.
D’Mitrik Trice set career highs with 25 points and a tournament-record seven 3-pointers to help No. 25 Wisconsin beat Oklahoma 78-58 in Thursday’s semifinals at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Trice started 7 for 7 from behind the arc, the last coming when he pump-faked a defender and stepped to his right to bury the shot for a 66-47 lead with 6:22 left. But he finally missed a 3 less than a minute later to finish at 7 for 8.
That was also the first missed 3 after halftime for the Badgers (5-0), who made 8 of 9 after halftime and 14 of 22 for the game. Wisconsin shot 59 percent in the second half, using a 10-0 run to blow the game open and earn a trip in Friday’s championship game.
Christian James scored 18 points for the Sooners (4-1), who shot 47 percent but couldn’t slow the Badgers’ second-half roll.
