MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Attorney General’s office says it has resolved a dispute with the state’s pharmacy benefit manager for $503,500.
The state says the money will resolve a dispute with Express Scripts about charges paid by the state under a contract that expired in 2013. More recent contracts did not contain the disputed terms.
Express Scripts manages prescription drug benefits for state employees and retirees.
The money will be used to increase prescription rebates next year for prescriptions purchased this year.
Attorney General T.J. Donovan says his office delivered “real value” to the state while resolving the disagreement.
Express Scripts says it acted in accordance with the contract at all times and the dispute was due to differing interpretations of it. Both sides agreed to the settlement to avoid unnecessary litigation.
