PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Police in Virginia say the woman who was charged more than three weeks ago in a fatal car accident has turned herself in.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports Virginia State Police said Wednesday that 26-year-old Evonne Shanae Brinkley was wanted on charges including involuntary manslaughter and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. She’s also charged with driving under the influence.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police said Brinkley contacted the agency to turn herself in Wednesday. Brinkley is jailed on a $20,000 secured bond.

Police say Cecilia Wells of Portsmouth, a passenger in Brinkley’s Chevrolet Equinox, died on Oct. 28 after Brinkley drove the wrong way down a Portsmouth freeway and struck another vehicle.
