WHAT’S AT STAKE?

A win would give the Tigers their first 10-win regular season since 2012 and likely put them in a prestigious New Year’s Day bowl game. The Aggies are looking for a victory to snap a seven-game skid to LSU, including going 0-6 against the Tigers since joining the SEC in 2012.

KEY MATCHUP

The LSU rush defense vs. Texas A&M’s Trayveon Williams. The running back ranks third in the nation with a career-high 1,326 yards rushing while the Tigers are 31st in the country, allowing 130.7 yards rushing a game. Williams leads an A&M rushing attack which is averaging 201.1 yards a game and the junior has seven 100-yard rushing games this season, including two of more than 200.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

LSU: Joe Burrow: The QB is 9-2 as a starter and one win shy of joining Zach Mettenberger as the only quarterbacks in school history to win 10 games in their first season as a starter. Burrow was named the SEC’s offensive player of the week after setting career-highs in yards passing (292) and yards rushing (96) in a 45-16 win over Rice last week.

Texas A&M: Kellen Mond. The dual-threat quarterback didn’t have a turnover last week after losing the ball six times in the previous three games combined. The sophomore has thrown for 2,680 yards and 17 touchdowns and run for 347 yards and five more scores.

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher worked as an assistant at LSU from 2000-06. … Texas A&M P Braden Mann set an NCAA record last week with his 14th punt of 60 yards or longer this season. … The Tigers lead the SEC and rank sixth in the nation with 16 interceptions. … Aggies TE Jace Sternberger has eight touchdown catches, which is a school record for a tight end. … LSU LB Devin White ranks fifth in the SEC with 98 tackles. … The Aggies are allowing just 82.8 yards rushing a game, which tops the SEC and is second in the nation. … LSU safety Grant Delpit leads the SEC and is fourth in the country with five interceptions.
