Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup will play in their Thanksgiving game against the Washington Redskins, four days after learning of his brother’s suicide.
After the Cowboys’ game Sunday in Atlanta, Gallup left the team to be with his family, but returned by Wednesday and fully practiced.
Gallup, a rookie, was the team’s third-round draft pick in 2018 out of Colorado State.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he hoped getting back to a routine would be helpful for Gallup.
“But we’re certainly sensitive to where he’s been the last few days and how challenging a time it is for him and his family,” he said.
Gallup has not commented publicly on the matter apart from a tweet he sent Tuesday:

Incidentally, Gallup was the Cowboys’ leading receiver in the first game between Washington and Dallas this season. He caught a 49-yard touchdown on his way to 81 receiving yards.
