Fox News host Laura Ingraham chastised President Trump Monday night over mocking Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff on Twitter.

Typically a staunch defender of the president, Ms. Ingraham condemned Mr. Trump for misspelling the congressman’s name in a new derogatory nickname akin to “Lying Ted” and “Crooked Hillary.”

“My view is being tough — that’s great, we all love a tough, strong president. But you don’t have to ridicule Adam Schiff’s name. There’s plenty about Adam Schiff you can take issue with substantively,” Ms. Ingraham said. “That’s just an unforced error. There’s no reason you have to do that.”

“So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-CA) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!” Mr. Trump tweeted Sunday.

Mr. Trump targeted the California Democrat after he criticized Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whittaker and accused the appointment of being unconstitutional.

“Wow, Mr. President that’s a good one,” Mr. Schiff fired back on Twitter. “Was that like your answers to Mr. Mueller’s questions, or did you write this one yourself?”
