The Washington Wizards are giving the impression to other teams that John Wall and Bradley Beal are no longer “exempt” from trade talks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Monday.
In the past, the Wizards were not willing to part with either of their All-Star guards. Now, as the team stands at 5-11 and other players have not garnered any action on the trade block, the team is apparently coming to grips with the idea that they may need to deal either Wall or Beal, according to Wojnarowski.
The report did not say that there was any trade currently in the works, and the Wizards are not actively shopping the guards. But after failing to draw interest for Otto Porter Jr. or Kelly Oubre Jr. in past trade discussions, it appears Wall and Beal are no longer off-limits.
Wall is 28, and Beal is 25. Both have spent the entirety of their NBA careers with Washington and are the faces of the franchise. The Wizards gave Wall a four-year contract extension in July 2017.
