PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jack Reed is hosting a financial aid workshop for students who need help paying for college.

The Rhode Island Democrat says the free workshop is designed to help students navigate federal and state financial aid programs, learn about their options and get advice from experts.

The workshop is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Knight Campus in Warwick.

The 90-minute seminar will address available financial aid options, eligibility criteria and the application process. Financial aid experts will share the latest information about filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Reed is encouraging current high school seniors to begin the process now, to take full advantage of all available resources.

He says many families don’t realize they are eligible and never apply.
