LANDOVER — Redskins quarterback Alex Smith was carted off midway through the third quarter in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with an ankle injury.

The Redskins announced Smith will miss the rest of the game. 

Smith was sacked by J.J. Watt and Kareem Jackson and remained down on the ground in visible pain. He placed his hands over his head and the cart soon came out to receive the quarterback. 

Redskins legend Joe Theismann soon weighed in — posting on Twitter that Smith’s injury was reminiscent of his own in 1985.
