NORTH CREEK, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s state-owned ski centers are opening for the winter.
Belleayre Mountain Ski Resort in the Catskills is opening Saturday along with Gore Mountain and Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks.
The three resorts run by the Olympic Regional Development Authority began snowmaking operations last weekend. An early-season winter storm moving across New York through Friday could add some more snow.
Also, Gore’s Nordic Center and Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid will offer Nordic skiing starting on Saturday.
