LAS VEGAS (AP) - Google has received the go-ahead to build a $600 million data center in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson.
The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development approved Thursday about $25 million in tax abatements over a 20-year period for Design LLC, a subsidiary of Google.
Officials say the subsidiary will build and own the facility on the 64-acre (26-hectare) Henderson site, and Google will manage its operations and hiring.
Google says the data center would bring in more than $94 million in tax revenue to the state over the next 20 years. It also plans to hire 50 employees within the next five years at an average salary of $65,000.
The data center would support Google services in North America.
The center is expected to open in December 2020.
