President Donald Trump, in characteristic President Donald Trump fashion, took to Twitter to give voice to his latest opinion on the ongoing — never-ending, it would seem — special counsel investigation of Russia collusion being conducted by Robert Mueller, and said: “The inner workings … are a total mess.”

Well, that’s just well said.

Even those who wish, hope and pray for Mueller to find something that could stick to Trump and boot him from the White House have to be thinking the same at this point.

From searching out shenanigans that show Trump unfairly, unpatriotically, illegally even, conspired with Russian entities to keep Hillary Clinton from climbing into her rightful White House role — to going after a best-selling 72-year-old author with conservative political leanings named Jerome Corsi for perjury: That’s where we’re at, Bob?

Trump put it this way: “The inner workings of the Mueller investigation are a total mess. They have found no collusion and have gone absolutely nuts. They are screaming and shouting at people, horribly threatening them to come up with the answers they want. They are a disgrace to our Nation and don’t …”

Here’s the rest: “…care about how many lives they ruin. They are Angry People, including the highly conflicted Bob Mueller, who worked for Obama for 8 years. They won’t even look at ll of the bad acts and crimes on the other side. A TOTAL WITCH HUNT LIKE NO OTHER IN AMERICAN HISTORY!”

Translation?

Not that one’s needed — not that Trump ever needs a translator — but just in case, the underlying message is this: Enough of the investigation, Mueller.

Let’s end it.

For the sake of the nation’s sanity — for the sake of the taxpayers’ dollar — it’s time to close the books on this one, move on, find another fight.

’Cause the whole Russia collusion thing?

Outside of the progressive-minded partisans on Capitol Hill, the media talkers who support them, and the leftist fundraisers with political scores to settle, nobody believes there’s anything to uncover.

Nobody with sense thinks this investigation is headed anywhere — except maybe to catch more conservative authors in the act of being conservative.
