Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that Democrat Stacey Abrams should have already won the Georgia’s gubernatorial race, which is locked in an ongoing vote count.
“If she had a fair election, she already would have won,” Mrs. Clinton said, according to The Statesman.
The former secretary of state was speaking at the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Austin, Texas, as she received an award from the school.
Republican contender Brian Kemp, Georgia’s former secretary of state, earned more than 50 percent of the vote after the election. However, Ms. Abrams refused to concede, arguing that mail-in votes could force the race into a run-off.
Mr. Kemp claimed victory and resigned from his state position Thursday, though Georgia election officials are still counting provisional and absentee ballots.
