The Cincinnati Bengals fired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin Monday, ESPN’s Josina Anderson first reported.

The firing comes after the Bengals lost to the New Orleans Saints 51-14 at home Sunday.

Cincinnati is allowing an NFL-worst 454.6 yards of offense per game to their opponents, as well as a full 32 points per game, which ranks 31st in the league.

Austin came to Cincinnati after four years in the same positions with the Detroit Lions, but lasted only nine games with the Bengals. He had interviewed for several NFL head coaching jobs before this year.
