BOSTON (AP) - David Pastrnak had three goals and an assist to lead the Boston Bruins to a 5-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Patrice Bergeron had a goal and two assists, Joakim Nordstrom also scored and Brad Marchand had two assists as the Bruins ended the Maple Leafs’ three-game winning streak and handed Toronto its first road loss of the season. Jaroslav Halak stopped 40 shots.
John Tavares scored the only goal for Toronto, and Garret Sparks finished with 29 saves.
Pastrnak’s second hat trick of the season gave him the NHL scoring lead with 15 goals after he entered in a four-way tie for the most.
After assisting on Bergeron’s goal late in the first period, Pastrnak scored twice in the second and completed got his third of the night with a one-timer from the left circle with 5:56 left to play.
RANGERS 5, BLUE JACKETS 4, SO
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Jimmy Vesey scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give New York it’s fifth win in six games.
Vesey beat goalie Joonas Korpisalo after the Blue Jackets’ Oliver Bjorkstrand was stopped by Alexander Georgiev as the Rangers improved to 5-0-1 in its recent stretch.
Kevin Shattenkirk and Mika Zibanejad also scored in the shootout for New York. Artemi Panarin and Anthony Duclair tallied for Columbus.
Vesey and Pavel Buchnevich each had a goal and an assist in regulation, and Zibanejad and Chris Kreider also scored for the Rangers. Georgiov stopped 34 shots.
Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and assist for Columbus, and Cam Atkinson, Alexander Wennberg and Nick Foligno also scored. Seth Jones had three assists. Korpisalo finished with 15 saves.
RED WINS 4, HURRICANES 3, SO
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Anthony Mantha scored twice and Frans Nielsen got the deciding goal in the shootout to lead Detroit.
Andreas Athanasiou also scored for the Red Wings, who came back from a two-goal deficit for the third straight game and have won six of their last seven.
Brock McGinn, Micheal Ferland, Dougie Hamilton scored for Carolina, who squandered a 3-1, third-period lead. The Hurricanes have won once in their last seven games. Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen led the Hurricanes with two assists each.
The Hurricanes built a 52-32 advantage in shots, but Detroit goalie Jonathan Bernier stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout.
The Hurricanes got two acrobatic saves from goalie Scott Darling in overtime and failed to capitalize on a power play in the final 15 seconds of OT.
PREDATORS 5, STARS 4
DALLAS (AP) - Mattias Ekholm scored 2:27 into overtime, and Nashville rallied to beat Dallas.
Nashville killed off a Dallas power play for the first part of OT, and then Ekholm took a cross-ice pass from Kyle Turris and sent the puck over Stars goalie Ben Bishop for the win.
The Predators (13-3-0) improved to 8-0 on the road this season. They rallied to tie the game three times, the last on Roman Josi’s power-play goal with 43 seconds left in the third period.
Tyler Seguin, Jason Spezza, Tyler Pitlick and rookie Denis Gurianov scored for Dallas (9-6-2), which lost for the third time in four games. Bishop finished with 29 stops.
Josi and Ryan Johansen each had a goal and an assist for Nashville. Ryan Hartman and Yannick Weber also scored, and Juuse Saros had 20 saves.
FLYERS 4, BLACKHAWKS 0
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Sean Couturier had two goals and an assist, Brian Elliott made 33 saves and the Flyers continued their dominance over slumping Chicago in Philadelphia.
Claude Giroux tallied a goal and two assists and Nolan Patrick added an empty-netter for the Flyers, who have won five of six overall and 15 in a row at home in the regular season against the Blackhawks. Chicago last won a regular-season game in Philadelphia on Nov. 9, 1996.
The Blackhawks have lost six straight games and two in a row under coach Jeremy Colliton. The 33-year-old Colliton replaced Joel Quenneville, the NHL’s second-winningest regular-season coach who was fired on Tuesday after 10 seasons at the helm.
Elliott was solid all game and made some key saves in the third period, including stopping Patrick Kane from close range on a Blackhawks power play, while recording his 38th career shutout. He also denied Dominik Kahun and Nick Schmaltz on shots from the slot that came right after the other early in the third.
SABRES 4, CANUCKS 3, SO
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart rallied Buffalo with goals late in the third period, and Jack Eichel and Casey Mittelstadt scored in the shootout to beat Vancouver.
With goalie Carter Hutton pulled for an extra attacker, Skinner got Buffalo within 3-2 with 2:27 left in the third, and Reinhart tied it 40 seconds later. Nathan Beaulieu also scored, and Rasmus Ristolainen and Rasmus Dahlin each had two assists in the Sabres’ second straight overtime win.
Hutton made 36 saves and stopped two shots in the shootout, including a final denial moments after Mittelstadt’s go-ahead score.
Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who are 4-0-2 in their last six games. Jake Virtanen and Erik Gudbranson also scored, Antoine Roussel had two assists and Jacob Markstrom stopped 34 shots in the third leg of a six-game trip.
PENGUINS 4, COYOTES 0
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist, Casey DeSmith stopped 39 shots and Pittsburgh snapped a five-game losing streak.
The skid was the Penguins’ longest since it lost five in a row from Dec. 11-19, 2015, which included the first four games under coach Mike Sullivan. The Penguins haven’t lost six straight since 2006. Pittsburgh also ended a four-game home losing streak and continued a six-game points streak against Arizona.
DeSmith had his second shutout of the season and third of his career.
Crosby scored his eighth goal, and Dominik Simon also had a goal and an assist. Patric Hornqvist scored his fifth, and Brian Dumoulin had his first goal in 22 games for Pittsburgh.
Darcy Kuemper stopped 28 shots for the Coyotes, who lost their third straight.
PANTHERS 4, ISLANDERS 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Aleksander Barkov scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to lead Florida.
Troy Brouwer, Mike Hoffman and Denis Malgin also scored for the Panthers, who won their third straight. Roberto Luongo made 29 saves for his third straight win after missing nearly a month with a knee injury.
Brock Nelson and Mathew Barzal scored for New York, which has lost three in a row after winning its previous five. Robin Lehner stopped 27 shots.
Brouwer had an empty-netter with less than a second remaining to seal the win
SENATORS 6, LIGHTNING 4
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Rookie Brady Tkachuk had a goal and an assist, and Ryan Dzingel scored a tiebreaking goal during Ottawa’s four-goal third period to rally the Senators past Tampa Bay.
Matt Duchene, Bobby Ryan, Colin White and Mark Stone also scored for the Senators. Craig Anderson stopped 24 shots.
Mathieu Joseph had two goals and an assist for the Lightning, and Victor Hedman scored in his return from an injury. Braydon Coburn also scored and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves.
Tkachuk, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 draft, was credited with his fourth goal of the season when Lightning defenseman Dan Girardi’s clearing attempt near the goal line wound up in the net early in the third.
CANADIENS 5, GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4
MONTREAL (AP) - Andrew Shaw scored twice, Tomas Tatar had the go-ahead goal and Montreal spoiled Max Pacioretty’s homecoming.
Charles Hudon and Jesperi Kotkaniemi also scored to help the Canadiens snap a two-game skid and improve to 9-5-3. Max Domi had two assists to extend his points streak to six games, and Antti Niemi made 34 saves.
Former Canadiens captain Pacioretty was kept off the scoresheet despite taking nine shots on goal in his first game at the Bell Centre as a visiting player. Pacioretty was dealt to the Golden Knights in the offseason in return for Tatar, prospect Nick Suzuki and a second-round draft pick. The 29-year-old was given a standing ovation following a video tribute prior to puck drop.
Brad Hunt, Jonathan Marchessault, Alex Tuch and William Karlsson scored for Vegas, and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 21 shots.
FLAMES 1, KINGS 0
LOS ANGELES (AP) - David Rittich stopped 21 shots for his first career shutout and Travis Hamonic scored to help Calgary win for the fifth time in six games.
Jack Campbell made 35 saves for the Kings, who have been held to one goal or fewer in six of their first 16 games.
The Flames went in front 2:26 into the first period. Hamonic got his second goal, with Garnet Hathaway setting a screen that kept Campbell from seeing the shot to the far post. Austin Czarnik and Noah Hanifin had assists, with Hanifin picking up his third in the past four games.
