Former Redskins running back Matt Jones landed with a new team Wednesday, signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones, a 2015 third-round draft pick, was released by the Redskins in September. He spent the 2017 season with the Indianapolis Colts, where he rushed for 14 yards in five games. The Colts released him last week.
Jones showed flashes with the Redskins, but fell into coach Jay Gruden’s doghouse with constant fumble issues. In two seasons with the Redskins, Jones fumbled eight times — losing six of them. He appeared in 20 games, rushing for 950 yards for six touchdowns.
In Philadelphia, Jones will join the reigning Super Bowl champions. He reportedly won a tryout that featured three backs, including former Baltimore Ravens rusher Terrance West.
He will now have to earn a roster spot.
