Comedian Jerry Seinfeld says he would much rather figure out ways to make “raisin” jokes than go after President Trump.

The man behind the iconic television show “Seinfeld” appeared to stun David Letterman during a recent interview for the Netflix series “My Next Guest Needs no Introduction.” Mr. Seinfeld told his comedic peer and an audience at Netflix’s “FYSee” space in Los Angeles that he is far more “excited” about raisin jokes than zinging the president.

“Now do you do Trump stuff when you go out,” Mr. Letterman asked after touting comedian Michelle Wolf’s appearance at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

“No, it doesn’t interest me. I do a lot of raisin stuff. Raisins. I have a lot of raisin material,” Mr. Seinfeld replied as the host nodded with an inquisitive look.

“You know you have the Sun-Maid company, and you have the Raisinet people,” Mr. Seinfeld said before the host exclaimed, “Ahh!”

“I just think that it’s interesting that after 80 years, Sun-Maid finally went, ’Hey, why don’t we put some chocolate on it?’ Imagine not thinking of that for 80 years,” Mr. Seinfeld continued. “So that really gets me excited, that people pay me to talk about those kinds of things.”

“Fair enough,” Mr. Letterman deadpanned in the YouTube video posted Monday.
