FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) - An official investigation has found that three corrections deputies in Utah’s Davis County were “relentless” in making unwanted and inappropriate advances toward young, female co-workers.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports the investigation uncovered policy violations and that the deputies’ supervisors either ignored or did not fully investigate complaints.
Davis County human resources director Debra Alexander says deputy Nicholas Chard resigned last month before disciplinary notices were issued. Two deputies were suspended without pay and two supervisors were demoted.
Records show Chard in one instance allegedly slapped or grabbed a female co-worker’s buttock while she was on a treadmill. She told investigators the contact was not welcome, but did not report it because she “did not want to deal with it.”
Chard told investigators he did not touch the woman.
