BOSTON (AP) - Police in Boston are investigating a shooting that has left two people dead.

Officers responded to sounds of gunfire in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood around 10 p.m. Friday.

Police say two men were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was in critical condition but died later at a local hospital.

One victim was in his 20s, and the other in his 50s. Neither victim has been identified.

The shooting happened in the courtyard of the Mildred Hailey Apartments.

Police say the shootings are the 17th and 18th homicides in Boston this year. Police are hoping that anyone with information about the shooting steps forward and are reviewing surveillance footage from the scene.
