ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia House candidate Sandra Bullock - not the Hollywood one - has withdrawn from the race after winning the Democratic Party primary last week.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Bullock withdrew her bid for the Smyrna-area House seat Wednesday. Bullock, a retired Georgia Tech database administrator, won the primary without meeting voters, raising money or campaigning.
Her withdrawal allows her primary opponent, Erick Allen, to take her place on the ballot this November against Republican Matt Bentley. Bullock said last week that she ran for office to strengthen security policies and support education and gay rights.
Bullock didn’t immediately respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment on the reasons for withdrawing from the race.
