MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) - Officials of a suburban Dallas school district say they’re concerned that the $69.9 football stadium they are having built is already developing cracks in its concrete.

The Dallas Morning News reports the McKinney Independent School District hired the engineering firm Nelson Forensics to examine the cracks in its new stadium. District finance chief Jason Bird told the school board Tuesday that the areas most affected by the cracks are the home and visitor concourses and the lower bowl wall.

Nelson Forensics had studied cracks in the $60 million stadium built by the neighboring Allen Independent School District a few years ago. Repairs that time cost at least $10 million, a cost borne by the architect and contractor.

The McKinney district had planned to open the 12,000-seat stadium by football season.
