The Washington Capitals have yet to win a Stanley Cup Final game in 43 years of the franchise’s existence. The expansion Vegas Golden Knights just won their first on Monday.

The Capitals are set to return to the ice for Game 2 of the finals after a 6-4 loss in Game 1. Here’s everything you need to know and read before the opening faceoff.

Since 1939, of the 51 teams to go up 2-0 in the finals, 46 went on to win. … Vegas top-line forward Jonathan Marchessault will play in Game 2, according to coach Gerard Gallant. Marchessault went into concussion protocol during Game 1 after absorbing a hit from Tom Wilson. … Braden Holtby went more than 164 total minutes between allowing goals in Washington’s Game 5 loss to Tampa Bay last round and the first goal he gave up in Vegas.
