Quicken Loans has agreed to return as the title sponsor of The National, the Washington-area PGA Tour event.
The mortgage company was the sponsor from 2014 to 2017, and originally it did not renew its contract when it ran out. The tournament, organized by Tiger Woods’ foundation, was also known as the AT&T National from 2007 to 2013.
The National will be played at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland, for the second year in a row. The first round will tee off on Thursday, June 28.
Tournament organizers also announced that Rickie Fowler, a Quicken Loans spokesman, will play The National for the fourth straight year. It was previously announced that Woods will play in the event for the first time since 2015.
“We are excited to have Quicken Loans continue as the title sponsor of The National in 2018 and look forward to our tournament host Tiger Woods and the PGA TOUR’s stars coming to TPC Potomac June 25 – July 1,” tournament director Mike Antolini said. “Quicken Loans has been a terrific partner of the tournament since 2014 and we expect to have a great week for players, fans and the community.”
With the tournament four weeks off, it was previously expected that The National would be played without a title sponsor in 2018. Two other PGA Tour stops, the Houston Open and Fort Worth Invitational, were held this season without the benefit of a title sponsor.
