SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A report indicates that the percentage of women in top positions at Utah businesses has been reduced by nearly half since 2014.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the study by the Utah Women and Leadership Project has found that 6.4 percent of women filled top leadership roles this year, dropping from 11.6 percent four years ago.

The Status of Women Leaders in Utah Business report examined CEO, president and top manager jobs at Utah businesses with 100 employees or more.

The report says the reduction could be tied to the influx of technology companies entering the state that brought more male company leaders.

According to the report, the representation of women as company board chairs increased from 5.4 percent to 7 percent over the same period.
