NEW YORK (AP) - Happy anniversary to the blue bicycles!
New York City is marking the fifth anniversary of its Citi Bike program this weekend.
The bike share program has grown to include more than 12,000 bicycles and 750 stations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
The city says ridership has grown every year, with 8 million trips in 2014 and rising to 17 million rides in 2017.
Citi Bike’s anniversary is being celebrated in a number of ways, including an award ceremony on Sunday recognizing top users in categories including most rides taken overall, and most rides taken by a teen.
Other anniversary events include a series of group bike rides planned for June.
