MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Barton man has been recognized as Vermont’s game warden of the year.
Warden Michael Scott, who has served as a warden since 2014, was recently recognized by Gov. Phil Scott in Montpelier.
Gov. Scott and Warden Scott are not related.
The governor says that Scott was chosen for “his professionalism, his strong work ethic and because he is highly liked and respected by the people who live in his area.”
Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter says that last year Warden Scott arrested the offender in the case in which a man killed a lactating cow moose and dragged the carcass 12 miles behind his truck. The case drew the largest monetary donation ever to Vermont’s “Operation Game Thief.”
Scott covers a number of Northeast Kingdom towns.
