JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The superintendent of a Tennessee school district has been named as the new superintendent for Madison County Schools in Mississippi.

The Clarion Ledger reports that Kimber Halliburton’s new role was announced Wednesday. She was unanimously selected by the Madison County School Board. Halliburton is the superintendent of Washington County Schools in Tennessee, where she was recognized for exceeding student growth expectations. That district has an A rating and more than 13,000 enrolled students.

Halliburton has a bachelor’s degree in special and elementary education from Middle Tennessee State University. She also has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University, where she is pursuing a doctoral degree.

Halliburton will move to Mississippi next month and assume the role held by Superintendent Ronnie McGehee, who retires in June.
