Rain continues to play havoc on the Nationals three-team homestand as Tuesday’s game with the San Diego Padres began at 7:15 p.m. after strong rain came through the area earlier in the day.

The game was slated to start at 7:05 p.m. Rain suspended a game in the last of the sixth inning with the New Yankees on May 15, and that will be made up June 18.

The Nationals were also rained out at home Friday with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A doubleheader was then played Saturday as the Dodgers won both games.

The game on Tuesday with the Padres was also part of Patriotic Series 2 - Women in the Military Day during pregame events. Chief Musician Shana Sullivan of the United States Navy Band performed the national anthem and Congresswoman Martha McSally threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Alicia Lynch, VP, Chief Information Security Officer, SAIC, yelled “play ball” before Nationals pitcher Jeremy Hellickson took the mound to face the Padres.

The series ends on Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. against the Padres, who will start right-hander Tyson Ross. He is the brother of Joe Ross, a pitcher in the Washington system. The Nationals had not announced their Wednesday starter, but most likely it will be Erick Fedde, who started Friday for Triple-A Syracuse and made three starts last season for Washington.

After Thursday’s off day, the Nationals (25-21) begin a road trip on Friday in Miami.
