DETROIT (AP) - City, state, business and nonprofit leaders are working on ways to help residents, employees and visitors move around Detroit.

The Detroit Mobility Innovation Initiative has identified improving offerings for Detroit residents using public transit to get to work and health care services as one key area.

Other areas of focus include better traffic conditions and parking close to homes and optimizing existing electric vehicle infrastructure.

More than 100 hours of interviews were conducted with Detroit residents. The initiative is in the pre-pilot planning stages.

The Detroit mayor’s office mobility innovation chief Mark de la Vergne calls the initiative a “unique opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Detroiters and the private sector to create solutions that will help people get around” the city.
