LAS VEGAS (AP) - Transportation officials have scaled back closure times for weekend construction at a bottleneck Las Vegas freeway interchange in anticipation of heavy traffic to and from the largest electronic dance music festival in North America.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Electric Daisy Carnival organizers asked the Nevada Department of Transportation to roll back some freeway restrictions in the Spaghetti Bowl interchange during the three-night event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Traffic is expected to be heavy as hundreds of thousands of music fans travel between downtown Las Vegas and Las Vegas Strip resorts and the speedway near Nellis Air Force Base.

NDOT spokesman Tony Illia says U.S. Highway 95 at Interstate 15 will close from midnight Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, cutting three hours off announced closures. Freeway connector ramps will remain open.

The closure is part of a $1 billion widening of I-15 between the Spaghetti Bowl and Las Vegas Strip area.
